May 1st, 2013It was a beautiful sunny day but the route over the Pyrenees was closed due to snow so everyone had to take the “low” route via Valcarlos. The sights included lots of sheep, cows, horses, stunning rolling green hills… it was such a beautiful atmosphere, everyone so friendly, everyone saying “Buen Camino.”
I met Hans from South Africa and Liz from Australia and we walked together. We all checked into an albergue with 120 beds for only €6 and had a delicious pilgrim’s dinner of soup, whole trout, fries and crème caramel, with unlimited red wine, for only €10. It was an awesome first day.

I love your blog!! I am leaving for my first Camino Frances Tuesday 9th June. So many people have asked me to blog the experience and I like the format you used… Is it the blog at wordspace at the bottom?? Did you do it all on your iPhone 5? I have an iPhone 5 with an Irish sim card, am bringing an ulocked iPhone 4 with a spanish sim and possibly an ipad for work along the way (not decided about the ipad yet because of weight). But for blogging could I do it all on the iPhone 5?? I know this may be a silly question – but I am not teckkky!!! And I really liked yours! THank you.. Kielty

Hi Kielty, I use WordPress and prefer using a laptop or iPad (especially to set it up) but am now on the PCT and posting purely from my iPhone 5 on the WordPress app – it’s definitely possible just with your phone.
Buen Camino!
