May 3rd, 2013

It was cold and drizzling again today, but an incredibly short walk to Pamplona so we weren’t in too much of a hurry and actually stopped at a Vodafone shop on the outskirts of Pamplona to buy Spanish sim cards for our phones.

Pamplona is a beautiful diminutive old town surrounded by ancient walls. Once we arrived we put all our dirty clothes together and used the albergue’s laundry, taking it in turns to stand in the queue and wait for the washing machine and dryer to become available! Then it was off to explore the sights and tastes of Pamplona – chorizo, salami, patatas bravas, pimentos, beer, pastries, the famous Spanish hot chocolate and churros… just to name a few! I’m not sure why I felt I deserved so much food after such a short walk!

The town had a lovely atmosphere, full of bars and restaurants and beautiful old buildings. We had a curfew at the albergue of 10pm so no time to hit the bars, that will have to wait for Leon! The forecast was encouraging with warmer days ahead…
