  • Saturday 9 November, 2013
  • Weather: Sunny, 21⁰C
  • Temples: None, 30km
  • Accommodation: Taisei-so Ryokan 0896-24-5096, Iyo Misuima, ¥3,000

I was woken by the sound of the garage door being opened at 7am and think I gave the man who opened it just as much of a shock as I got! He hadn’t been around last night so didn’t know I was snuggled up in my sleeping bag in his garage!

I got up, said goodbye and started on my way, an easy 30km day with no temples to visit, just a walking day.

I am so grateful for all that happened today:

  1. The man who got out of his truck to give me ¥200 and told me to buy a drink.

  2. The man who gave me a mandarin and a packet of nuts.

  3. The fruit seller who gave me 2 mandarins.

  4. The lady at the convenience store who gave me lollies and rice crackers.

  5. The man who gave me a can of juice.

I arrived at the ryokan at 3:30pm and had no idea what to do with myself, I’d never arrived somewhere so early before! … I washed my clothes, showered, ate my dinner of sushi that I’d brought at the supermarket (and a little wine), read a book and got an early night 🙂
