I arrived into Vernazza at 11:30am, already quite hot and sweaty! I went down to the harbour and wondered if there’d be enough time for me to take a quick dip with all the other swimmers? First things first, I needed replenishment. I found a lovely little bar and bought a delicious coffee and large bottle of water, then sat outside in the street watching the tourists go by. I tried to calculate how long it would take me to do the next 3 stages… I had a deadline because I was staying in Milan and needed to get a 18:19 train back there from Monterosso Al Mare. I didn’t want to rush so I told myself I would go at my normal pace and if there wasn’t enough time to make it to the end I could always get a train for that section… But there was no time for a swim!

This stretch of the trail wasn’t as hard as the first one from Monterosso but it was still pretty much straight up! The path wasn’t as slippery and there wasn’t as much forest cover and it was quite wide in parts. It also had incredible views looking over to Corniglia and Manarola in the distance.
