PCT Day 4, Mt Laguna campground to Mason Valley fire tank

Day 4
Mt Laguna campground to Mason Valley fire tank (mile 62), 15.5 miles (incl off-trail campsite access)
Cost: $0

Today in a nutshell: We all survived the wind (I could hear it but luckily it never hit us directly), freezing overnight temperatures, stunning mountain and desert views all day long and I had to fill up my water from a horse trough with green water using my sawyer squeeze filter for the first time!

Mark, Barista and Jess

And humans?!

This is where I got my water from!

There’s no reliable water source for the next ~40 miles so the plan tomorrow is to either get to Scissors Crossing (14 miles away) then hitch into Julian or a nearby RV park and fill up with water to make it through the next stretch.

I’m camped right now with 3 others on a side road with space for about 6-8 tents overlooking the mountains and watching the sunset as I eat my ramen. I have a stunning view and this is my favourite place to camp so far.

Dirty!

Ramen for dinner
