PCT Day 50, Horseshoe Meadow campground to mile 766

Day 50
Horseshoe Meadow campground to Crabtree Meadow (mile 766), 23 miles
Cost: Camped, free

The alarm went off at 5am, I did some quick last minute packing then we drove through the drive-thru at McDonalds and I ate breakfast in the car while Howard drove back up the very windy road to Horseshoe Meadows campground. Howard carried my pack the 1.8 miles back up to the PCT where we said goodbye – him flying back to London, me walking to Canada.
I was so tired that after 5 miles when I came to Chicken Lake, I lay down and had a 15 minute power nap. I met Tapatio, AJ & Tracy at the lake, we all filled up with water then I flip-flopped with them for the rest of the day.

I got a message from Barely on my Inreach telling me where the group had made camp and arrived around 5pm. It’s a stunning spot by a meadow with deers and marmots and gorgeous mountain views.

Tomorrow we climb up Mt Whitney 🙂
