- Day 40 – Day off in Sendai to see the Aoba Matsuri Festival
- Weather: Sunny and hot
- Accommodation: Couchsurfing host Tama-san, Sendai
Thanks to the excellent Facebook group, ‘Touring Japan by Bicycle,’ I was made aware of the Sendai Aoba Matsuri festival and it looked like I could make it there on time. The festival is considered one of the three biggest in the region, and dates back to 1655. I went along with Tama-san and her friend and had a great day.

Lovely photos of the festival. Very good timing – you arrived just in time to see the colourful performances in Sendai. Hoping that you are not too saddle sore! Chris and I are ignoring the iffy weather and enjoying our break in Shropshire. Jxx

Thanks Jean,
I can’t believe my bum is still sore after so many days of riding! The festival was fantastic, glad you liked the photos 🙂
