  • Day 54 – Rest day in Lake Toya
  • Weather: sunny and warm
  • Accommodation: Stayed with friends Kanji & Mieko

I slept so well and woke up to a gorgeous blue sky and views of Lake Toya. It was an easy decision to take a day off and spend time sightseeing with Kanji and Mieko 🙂

This area is beautiful and I had an absolutely fantastic day exploring with Kanji and Mieko. These are two people that I met while watching the sunrise on an island more than a month ago. At that time, we started chatting and they invited me into their camper van for coffee where we chatted some more. Now they feel like long lost friends and we’ve shared lots of laughs over these two days. This is what I love about travelling. Sometimes just saying hi can be the beginning of something wonderful.
