We stopped for a break at Martin’s Haven, hoping the cafe would be open… and it would’ve been, if it wasn’t for the one day of the week it was closed!
Martin’s Haven is where boats depart for Skomer Island to see the puffins at this time of year and as much as we would’ve loved to have taken the day off for sightseeing, we’ll have to come back another time. (This is why you should take 2 weeks to do this walk!) Saddened by the closed cafe, we sluggishly trudged on.

St Brides Castle

Little Haven
In Little Haven, The Castle was our saviour and the only pub still serving food now it had just gone past 2:30pm. We quickly ordered, (in case they realised the time and decided to close) and had a long lunch, followed by a nap in the green in front of the pub.

There are a lot of gates on this walk, not complaining though, much prefer gates to stiles!

Going down, with a view of Newgale Beach

Being lactose intolerant, I’m very grateful for vegan ice cream, well done Magnum! @ Pebbles Cafe
We were pretty excited to be camping at Newgale campground tonight, especially considering hiker’s rates are only £5 AND there’s a pub next door. We knew the pub stopped serving food at 9pm but that didn’t bother us as we’d had a big lunch. What we didn’t realise when we went there at 9:30pm for a nightcap, was that the whole pub closed at 9pm… (9pm might seem late, but considering sunset here isn’t until 9:30pm right now, it’s hard to get in a tent when it’s still completely bright outside!) No nightcap for us then. There’s a recurring theme on this hike and I’m not liking it!

However, on the way back from the shower block, I did get to see KC’s impromptu performance of Shania Twain’s ‘That don’t impress me much,’ and Tina Turner’s ‘Simply the Best,’ so it was still a great night! I hope you like the below video as much as I loved the live version… KC, a woman of many incredible talents! Can someone please pass this on to Simon Cowell? 🙂
