Rainy day.

I had arranged to leave the albergue today at 6:30am with Anda and Katharina. I didn’t even have to look outside to know the weather forecast had been right… I could hear the rain pounding down on the roof and the rustle of poncho material as everyone got ready to leave. It seemed like the perfect day to stay another day and just lie in bed reading a book, but no, I had a camino to walk and answers to find!

I got ready in my wet weather gear and we set off, it was a nice walk along a canal with a lock and the birds were singing regardless of the rain. We arrived at our destination before 1pm, the rain had stopped and the hot sun was shining so we had lunch in the park by the church – a beautiful fresh breadstick, ham, cheese, vino tinto, followed by cakes from the bakery.

We were recommended to go to the pilgrims mass at 8pm by some pilgrims we met. It was held in Spanish & English and every pilgrim was personally blessed and the nuns gave each of us a paper gift to carry to Santiago. It was a beautiful church, a lovely mass and a nice town too.
