Accommodation: Camped in a hut just after bridge (toilets over road), Sukumo City, free
I slept in until 6am 🙂 … Then had the big job of repacking my backpack – everything had been out drying for the past few days and it was quite a task to make it fit again!
It was all road walking to Temple 39 but the roads were quiet and took us through tiny farming villages so it was a nice, peaceful walk.

I saw a snake and strangely it wasn’t afraid of me and let me get quite close to take some pictures. I also saw a weird insect inside one of the tunnels, a house centipede?

Weather wise, it was a lovely autumn day, thank you!! It was cool in the morning then lovely and warm in the sunshine without being scorching hot like it has been.
We arrived in Sukumo city at about 4pm and the Henro hut was perfect for the tent to fit inside and across the road from some public toilets. We decided not to set up the tent just yet but to take our stuff with us and find somewhere for dinner. … Being a Sunday in a small town we couldn’t find anything that was open. That is until we met a man selling kitchenware who got on his bike and took us to the only restaurant open in town, a lovely Japanese restaurant where we had sukiyaki for dinner, it was delicious.
